Maxi Backsie Roller - Massages The Spinal Column, (Body Tools)
An excellent device for massaging the spinal column. This is the descendent of the original Ma Roller which was developed over 30 years ago. The new rubber rings stabilize the rolling action making it easier to control your movements. By giving a gentle stretch to the spine and a deep massage to the antigravity muscles in the back, the Maxi-Backsie stimulates three fundamental lines of energy known to every ancient culture around the world. These three lines represent the very core of the man -

Very helpful; design flaw,
I’ve had this for several months. It’s a cheaper knock-off of the original Ma Roller. The most important part of the review is that my back is much, much better because of this device. If you have back problems, your back is chronically tight and knotted. As you slowly drape your back over this, rolling it vertebra-by-vertebra down your spine, you’ll initially think you’ve bought a torture device. Have patience; use it repeatedly. Your body is given a choice: you can let go of that chronic spasming – or you can hurt ’til your eyes cross. Over several uses, your back learns new ways to relate to itself, and old pains begin to fade. In my experience, you have to keep using it. It doesn’t cure; it releases. I, at least, busily put the chronic tensions back. I use it every other day or so, for about 15-20 minutes. Now for the design flaw: the original Ma Roller is lathed out of one piece of wood. This one is lathed out of two pieces that are glued together. If everything is perfect, that won’t matter. But mine – and I suspect many others – is not perfect. Differences in wood density, stress patterns, humidity, whatever, put the two pieces slightly out of alignment. So there’s a tiny, off-center ridge along the two “bumps” in the middle. If you can use this with even a t-shirt on, this won’t matter. But for me, all clothing eventually gets caught between the roller and the carpet (I think carpet is a good idea), and you’ll have to shift to release it. Lifting your body off this device at the wrong time is very painful, indeed. You don’t wanna do it. So I use it against bare skin. Then the tiny ridge is like a tiny knife edge, and it is quite uncomfortable. I still use it, and it still helps a lot. I certainly don’t come away with cuts or abrasions – it’s nowhere near that bad. But it’s uncomfortable. I wish I’d sprung the extra few bucks and bought a brand (like Ma Roller) that’s all one piece. But to repeat: there’s a reasonable chance that this device, or one like it, may help your back a great deal – if you’re willing to use it consistently.
